About

Lisa Richardson, daughter of a celebrated local plein-air artist Mike Helman, is an oil painter whose work captures the profound relationship between nature and the human spirit. Raised in a home where creativity was as natural as breathing, she developed an early appreciation for the way nature can mirror life's resilience and transformation. While other kids were spending Saturday nights at the arcade, hers were filled with Second Saturday Art Walks and trips to Yosemite Valley, Lake Tahoe and other outside plein air adventures.

Working primarily in oils, Lisa layers textures and luminous colors to evoke the shifting moods of forests, skies and waters. Living with autism and ADHD, Lisa approaches art with a unique sensory awareness, translating the tactile and emotional essence of the natural world onto canvas. Having endured and overcome trauma and tragedy at a young age, her paintings started out as an outlet for her grief and carry an undercurrent of hope - reminding viewers that, like nature, we can weather storms and bloom again.

Lisa has shown her work in galleries in Camas, WA and local fairs in California.

In her personal life, she is also a mom to 4 boys, a golden retriever named Lacey, and a bearded dragon named Tofu.
